Adding strings to the edge/side of an alpha?

If you're halfway through a bracelet and the pattern says to add a string to the edge side of the bracelet how do you not get the string to stick out of the side from the back? this probably makes no sense but i hope someone understands what im trying to say xD |

I usually use the straight edges technique. That helps avoid this issue in alphas.

Thanks! So thats just doing a fb/bf knot when adding a string on the edge instead of just doing a normal f/b knot?
