hi! i want to try attempting an alpha pattern on a swivel keychain. I understand how to knot the base strings onto the keychain in pairs, however there are a number of alphas with odd numbers of base strings that i'd like to try too. anyone have any tips on how to knot that last base string onto the keychain seamlessly and without there being an extra string leftover? thanks!! ❤️

There are two options I can think of
- tie the first leading string to the dowel using a larks head knot, leave one end the same length as the other base strings and use it as a base string
- cut a string the same length as you cut the base strings, split it in half (3 strands instead of 6), tie it to the dowel like the other base strings and use both halves of that thinner base string as just one base string

lets say you have 13 base strings cut 14 base strings all same size but move the far left/right string behind then make your alpha and cut the 14th string off once you are done 😊
