Ive been knotting since july/august and Im having problems with my string lengths. I cut each string the same length apart from the one used to wrap the starting loop. But I nearly always end up having to make the bracelet shorter then i wanted because 2 strings are always much shorter then the rest.
Can anyone offer any ideas as to why this is happening please?

Hi, this happens because there are some strings in the pattern with which you make more knots than with others. The strings that are longer in the end are passive more often. To avoid that particular strings are getting to short, look at the pattern before and try to find out which string is used the most. (You can click on a string in the beginning of a pattern and it will be highlighted and you can see where it will go) Then you can make those strings longer. 😊

@cobwebs like @Elu said some strings are used more then others in a pattern so they get shorter more quickly. I personally like to make all of my strings super long so I wouldn't have to think which one is the one I'd use the most. Also, if you're starting your bracelet with a loop like I do, take it into consideration that you start the pattern itself with two string that you already used for the loop (and therefore are shorter) so plan ahead and make them even longer than the other strings. Best of luck, and remember it's all practice and experiment 👍 😊

@Alternatively add more string when you see that a certain string (or strings) are shortening significantly faster than others, using the same technique for adding string to an alpha (also a useful trick for when a string breaks).

Ive not had a go at making alphas...yet, but i would like to as there are some fab patterns! 😍
For now ill just do longer strings as im still relatively new to this craft so still dont know how to make a bracelet with an odd number of strings. Ive spotted a forum post on odd numbers, so ill be reading that later 😊
