You can start now but id watch this video first, masha knots flat alpha beginner tutorial then do something simple like this #50518 or #80560. Good luck! ❤️

tbh, you can start making alphas whenever you want to/feel confident about your knot tension and placement (these two things are very important to making alphas).

I think when you feel good about your normal bracelets and know how to make a forwardbackward/backwardforward knot including your normal forward and backward knot then find a simple alpha pattern with not a lot of strings and watch a tutorial there are some good ones here on bracelet book and on youtube

Normal patterns and alpha patterns are two separate things apart from them using the same knots. You could even learn to knot alphas before ever learning how to knot normals. I would even argue that reading alpha patterns is easier than reading normal patterns because you can only ever go row by row. There are definitely alpha patterns that are as beginner friendly as normal patterns like the candystripe or the chevron are. I recommend patterns like the rag-rug bracelet or the vertical wave.

@peanutsv as @halokiwi said: something simple like the vertical wave is pretty good for gauging where you are in alpha making skills. The ragrug is also great for trying out various techniques (especially since there is no set pattern and you can literally do whatever you want). I definitely started on those two patterns before any other alpha pattern.
