alphas look stretched

i have been making alpha bracelets for over a year now but i have noticed that a lot of my bracelets look stretched out. if you look at some of my photos of alpha patterns you may be able to see what i mean. i have heard people saying to loosen your knot tension but even after doing that i don't see much of a difference. if anyone knows how to solve this problem please let me know!

i’ve heard doubling base strings help, to make them less long and wider so they’re more squaewish
