Does anyone have any bracelet-making hacks that really helped them when they were beginners? I've been doing okay so far, but I'd like to figure out a few tips. Also, how can I make the left side of my bracelet look straighter? It always looks so squished up.

If you making alphas don’t pull to hard on the strings! If your making a normal maybe pull a bit tighter or don’t pull hard on the left side!

Okay, I'll try that! I've never made an alpha before, but I think that tip will come in handy if i ever do make one. Thank you! 🙂

I like to use a clipboard when making bracelets and push the bracelet up as I knot it. If your bracelet is curved when you’re making it, then one side will probably end up curved

Get a flat object and glide it from the bottom to the top and then top to bottom to flatten/smooth bracelets. 😊

use a ruler for alphas to make the rows more horizontal so it looks better

I like to safety pin my bracelets to my beanbag while I’m making them.

bracelet life hacks for alphas that I have learned from the forum (thanks forum <3):- make looser knots (this makes the knots rounder) - use flat alpha color changes - use backward-forward knots on left side of alpha to make it straight, and forward-backward knots on right side of alpha to make it straight. - use a ruler to push up your knots so they are in a neat row. - practice, practice, practice with alphas!! You get better over time. hope this helps! ❤️ |

Here’s a tip I learned from @akaawol: Knot as close to the clip/whatever you’re using to secure your project to a board/other surface as possible. Because the further away you are, the higher the chances of your project curving.

And one I learned from @Margaron: When knotting, keep your knotting string and the string you’re knotting on

perpendicular to each other. Which one should be horizontal and which should be vertical will vary depending on what you’re making.

when making alphas, don’t carry a string too far across the bracelet or across a row, or it will cause your bracelet to curve and bevel. for example if your bracelet has a black border, i always have 2 knotting strings, one on each end, rather than having 1 and carrying it across every row.

i hope that makes sense! i’ve noticed too much tension on the back of the bracelet makes it turn out bumpy/weird, so i always keep that in mind!

If you get blisters while making bracelets, tape worked, and dollar store finger protecters are bright pink but they worked wonferfully!

- keep practicing!- use a safety pin if you want to undo knots, it’s a lot faster - learn segment knotting if you’re making normals For alphas: - use a ruler/nail to push on each row after your done so it’ll be straight - use the flat alpha technique - keep your knots loose, also use thicker threads as base strings, so your bracelets look less ‘stretched’ Good luck ❤️ |

if just one side of your bracelet is curved, I suggest making some candy stripes with that knot because it means that that knot is tighter than the other side. After a candy stripe or two, you can try a basic bracelet like a chevron or something like #4435 to see if your knots are more even.

Don’t give up on a bracelet because you realized your strings were too short, there are east ways to tie more in

You can knot on literally anything: water bottles, the zipper of your backpack, a kind friend who will hold the bracelet for you while you knot, or you can rape it down literally anywhere. Plus, i know friends who knot completely in the air. Personally, I can’t do it, but it is possible

Oh, save your scraps! They come in handy (especially for rag rugs and alphas)
