I’m not going to have enough base string for my alpha, I’m 1/4 of the way through the pattern but just over 1/2 of my base string is left. The base string is different from the leading string. Do I start over or can I somehow add string to the base strings? |

You can! I did it once. I'm not sure if there is like an "official" technique for it, but I did it as followed:1) cut more of the same the base string, but this time be sure to make it long enough (in order to avoid having to repeat this) 2) make sure the "new" base string overlaps with the "old" base string: lay the old and new next to each other, with the 1 cm overlap, and just continue your pattern. The only difference is that now you will make the knots on the TWO base strings. I advice you to make your knots tighter in order to avoid a difference in width from your previous alfa rows, so it is less noticeable that you had to fix it. 3) continue this until you just have the new base string left, and the loosen your knots again like the tightness you used before the "fix". I hope i described it clear enough and i wish you good luck! 😊 |
