so i’m fairly new at making alphas and i have a couple of questions:i’m still getting the hang of switching colors (i’m using the flat alpha trick and it seems to work fine) but all of my knots are messy and not straight! i saw on here that you should keep your knots loose and then use a ruler to push the whole row up afterwards, but then i also saw that you should make your knots tight so they’re neater and i’m not sure which way works better? plus after i switch the colors and i tug on the old color to tidy up the knot sometimes it pulls my knot inside out and it’s hard to fix and make it look right! things just aren’t turning out as nice as i was hoping they would. if anyone has any tips on alphas and switching colors i’d really appreciate it <3 |

you should find a happy medium. not too loose where the knot moves around when there’s a breeze but not so tight that you can’t really mold it. with color switches, i’d say that making a looser first knot and then a tighter second knot helps, and i pull the old color horizontal to the row, so it doesn’t flip inside out. hope this helps, and if you have anymore questions feel feel to message me.

@senor what do you mean by you pull it to the row? in the direction you’re knotting (forward/backward)? <3

like, idk how you’re pulling the old color, but if it’s sort of popping out, ill pull the string so it coincides with the row im knotting with…. sometimes it’ll be in the opposite direction im knotting, sometimes in the same. depends on which is easier…. idk if that makes sense but feel free to ask me to elaborate more i can definitely try
