How long do I make my braided ties?

I usually make braided ties for tying my friendship bracelets, I never know how long to make the ties and end up making them too long or too short. How long do you make yours? It would be nice to have a measurement so i know about how long to make mine each time.

I usually make mine 4+ in. ( 10 cm). I think mine are too long though, cause my dad complained about how long they are. I think 3 in. (7.5 cm) is about the right amount

I think it’s just preference. Some don’t like ties, others like short ties or long ties. I personally love making long ties and love how they look when I wear them. There isn’t really a length you should make them. Just make them however you want. If you want shorter ties but have a lot of strings left after you finished your bracelet, cut some of the string then make your ties and they should be short.

If you want long ties, cut more string than needed for the so you can use the string up for the ties.

@stormii depending on the length of the bracelet I'm making, my ties vary between 7 and 9cm. In any case, too long is better than too short; if it's too long, you can always just tie a knot higher up (where you want the knot to be) and then trim off the excess below.
