Hey guys! I've used color changing string before but it never looks good since I can't line it up. Do you just have any suggestments on how to do it well?

If you use several colour changing strings in one pattern if you want them to all transition evenly try to make the same amount of knots with all of them (or at least as close to the same as possible)So if you make a knot between two of the colour changing strings make the knots with the string you have used less so far. I think this might make only a very slight difference overall. Another thing that can help when working with color changing string is to not interrupt the flow of the string. So if you have a zig zag pattern and at the corner there is a knot between two of the color changing strings then I recommend to make a bf or fb knot instead of a f or b knot. And apart from that: I think it is the beauty of colour changing string that it is unpredictable. If you are very bothered by the strings not transitioning equally my recommendation would be to either - pick a pattern where you only replace one of the strings with the colour changing string - pick a pattern where all strings that you replace with colour changing string make the same amount of knots - pick a pattern where the flow of the colour changing strings is never interrupted or they at least don't cross each other directly |
