Is anyone available/willing to help a newbie out with an “alpha” pattern- specifically pattern #26104. In the first few rows when working from left to right using the white, how do you keep from running out of string? Is the outside string changing through the pattern? Thank you in advance for your help!

For alphas you don’t have to worry about running out of string, since you knot with only one string on the base strings, you are going to run out of the string you’re knotting with eventually. When that happens, you can just insert a new white string in the same way you would if you were changing colors, i hope that makes sense!

About your rank, the ranks on this website get higher when you use the website, post photos,… so it doesn’t really have to represent your level in making bracelets. You could be a “bracelet king” on the website and still be a begginer (:

Alphas work different from normals. There are two types of strings: the base strings and the leading string. The base strings are the perpendicular strings. They can have any colour you like. They're only visible in the ties because you don't make any knots with them. The leading string is the string with which you knot onto the base strings row-by-row. It's best to use the full skein and only cut the leading string once you are done. To make a knot of a different colour you need to switch to a new leading string. I recommend watching MashaKnots' video on the flat alpha technique. She explains it very well. The rank is based on how active you are on braceletbook, it is not a representation of your skill level. |
