I just got into making friendship bracelets, but when do you think it is a good time to start making alpha patterns. I really like them but I don’t know when to start because they’re so difficult. Do you guys have any tips on how to get started and when?

i’d recommend starting with a pattern that’s not too big. my first was 21 strings though so idk if i can really say that lol. but i was really excited to make it. but i’d say that an alpha w 3 colors is really good bc then u can get used to color switches that are 1-1-1.

I practiced a lot with normal patterns before I started alphas. I think you should also be comfortable with the 4 basic knots (forward, backward, forward-backward, and backward-forward). I also watched Masha Knots's (@Racoon) flat alpha tutorial MULTIPLE times before starting an alpha and while I was starting my very first alpha (#40856). I recommend when picking your first alpha pattern, it be smaller than 25 base strings in width, and with few colors and few color switches. If you ever need any help, the bb community is here for you! hope this helps ❤️Masha Knots flat alpha tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_YVFAX9sacw |

I think alphas are not more difficult than normal patterns. In theory you could start out by learning alphas before ever doing normals. To start I recommend to make something small with not many colours. |
