So if I want to do a pattern that a new color starts on the edge.. what do I do with the side of the string that I tape down? I know I can weave the other end in. But this end will be hanging off the side.?

I’m talking about alpha patterns by the way.

I usually use the straight edges technique for alphas in general. That means that all the knots on the left edge are replaced by bf knots and all the knots on the right edge are replaced by fb knots. If you use this technique, your string ends will point to the center of the bracelet and not towards the edge. You can just cut the end like you would cut any other end. Due to the tight knotting structure, it most likely will stay in place and not come undone. 😄When I started making alphas, I was super worried that they would come undone if I just cut the strings, so I made knots between the ends of different strings. If you are worried, you can also do that. Other people use glue or nail-polish to secure their strings but that might make the back of the bracelet scratchy. |

Thank you! I’ve been planning on doing the straight edge for my first alpha, just wanted to cover my questions before I start ❤️
