Need help with grid for an alpha bracelet pattern

Doing a normal pattern is confusing for me, so I wanna use the alpha pattern as it looks easier for me to do.Which side needs to be the shortest and which needs to be the longest, the W or the H, for making a bracelet? Also, does it need to be right side up or sideways, if adding an image on it? (Example: a smiley face) |

Hi, patterns need to be right side up, so you also need to put an image right side up if you are using alpha from image.It doesn't matter which side is the shortest and the longest, the generator automatically recognizes the shortest side and takes this as the amount of base strings. |

For me around 85 rows work well for an alpha bracelet. I don't do alpha bracelets a lot, so I'm not sure what would be the perfect width. I think anything between 10 and 20 is probably good.
