Base strings for alphas

Hi, I don't want to use embroidery thread for alpha base strings, because it is expensive and i feel like it's a waste. Is there any alternatives?

I use crochet thread! Lots more string per roll and I feel like it gives better base as it's thicker than embroidery floss 😄

If you want the crochet thread to be thicker than embroidery floss, make sure to get size 3. Size 8, which is another common size, is a lot thinner than embroidery floss
