I’m running out of leading string halfway through my alpha. What do I do?

My leading string is almost gone, so do I weave in a new string (same color, ofc) like you do for other colors?

Yes, that’s exactly what you do. Unless the pattern is really small, you’ll pretty much always need to replace your background string at least once.
