Hey guys! I would like to use and ombré yarn for my friendship bracelet. Do you think it would be alright? I haven’t used yarn before to make a bracelet. Thank you!!

I’m pretty sure it works. Are you using just yarn or are you using both yarn and embroidery floss? Cuz you are using both, depending on the yarn, it may not work as well

In Masha Knots’s yarn review video, at the end she showed a little clip of a bracelet with yarn and embroidery floss together. If it’s about the thickness she was using it might work. I don’t know what your yarn is like tho.

This forum page was really helpful for me! (Just thought I'd say that). I was thinking about maybe making a scarf or something with chunky-ish yarn instead of embroidery string and didn't know about the Masha Knots video before this! Thanks

I actually used embroidery floss and some color changing yarn that i found cool, as long as you’re not trying to make it blend with other strings, because that string will stand out

@22graffeod yes that’s exactly what I wanted to do! I want to make an alpha bracelet and use the yarn as the knotting string but the details embroidery floss. May I ask which yarn product you used?

I’m not exactly sure which type it was, i foules it in a party supplies room at my gymnastics center, but it was normal yarn from a large ball, and i have a picture of what it ended up looking like on my profile, crossing back and forth with a green and pinkish string. That pattern is really good for it. Just tie your knots tight and you’ll be fine.

i really like to use DMC embroidery floss! i prefer to buy a package of plastic bobbins, and wrap them around it and put them in cases based off colors!

@brynnrose yes I use it for my bracelets! I just wanted a more variety of colors so I was curious if I can use it to make bracelets as well as the embroidery floss

personally i don’t think i really have a favorite, they do make special types or thicker “friendship bracelet thread” and they seem to be better at holding the knots and have a better shape to them when making the bracelets themselves!
