I would suggest #36730 because it helps you learn the technique of alpha bracelets, but you don’t have to worry about it turning out perfect or following the pattern exactly. It’s also a great way to use scrap thread

You can try using the pattern filters to find an alpha with under 15 strings and 3 colours because any pattern that fits that criteria and doesn't have alot of colour switches should be perfect for a begginer. I would also reccomend making a keychain rather than a bracelet.

I would recommenced making a smaller pattern. If you want to make a bracelet Masha Knots has a territorial on a rainbow bracelet. (she has two, one shaped and one normal, I would recommenced the normal bracelet.

Any pattern with names or numbers should be good!! It’ll allow you practice without a lot of color switches

my first alpha was a kind of rag rug. A good way to use up scrap threads and a means of practicing various alpha techniques!

You could try some two-toned alphas, because there is a special technique for making alphas with 2 colours, which makes it much easier, plus you don’t have to add in any strings for different colours. Just filter the search to alpha and 2-2 for colours. You can try the technique with letters too, lots of people like to do that.

The technique is quite simple. Basically, you have to cut the base strings (which should be one of the colours in your pattern) longer than you normally would, and start knotting with your background string (the OTHER colour) as normal. When you get to a colour switch, knot with your BASE STRING onto your previous leading string (or background string.) Make sure the knot is OPPOSITE of the direction you’re knotting for the row. (Eg if you are going to the right with forward knots, make a BACKWARD knot with your base string onto your background string. If you are making a row of backward knots, make forward knots.) I hope that made sense!

Some patterns I recommend are #34178, #38672 and #22906. They might seem complicated but they aren’t hard if your use the technique. I hope this was helpful! 🙂
