is it OK to use base strings and leading string of different sizes in an alpha?

I was just wondering (in alphas): 1- can I use base strings of one size and the leading string of another size?2- can I use a material of base strings and another material for the leading string? thank you 😊 |

Both questions: yes! 😄 Lots of people use thicker base strings, some even double up their base strings so they always knot around two strings.
