Do you have a specific thing you are struggling with when trying to read a pattern?

If segment knotting is confusing to you, you could also knot row by row. I think there are probably also videos on that. It might be less confusing.

knotting by row is good. Also, with normals, do not font it based off of the picture/grid thing, you have to go based off of the specific knots. If a bit confused on which stings to knot, look slightly above the knot pattern part and look at the strings.

Another tip is, for normals with an even number of string, the rows alternate between pairing up all of the strings next to each other and knotting them and leaving the side two out and then pairing the remaining to knot.
