my recommendation is like what others have said which is watch a tutorial so you can see what making the knots look likebut some baby tips to kinda help: there are 4 kinds of knots -> forward (f), backward (b), forward-backward(fb), backward-forward(bf) for beginners try to practice with patterns that only have f and b. there are 2 types of bracelet/keychain patterns -> normals and alphas (normals are generally more easier to do) if you are reading a pattern using the website you can hover over the knots (arrows) and it will show you what the knot looks like. if you get lost on which string should be where you can hover your mouse of the string (make sure it is not the circle with the arrow in it) and then it shows you how and where that string should end up. reading patterns goes from left to right and up to down. use the numbers on the side to keep track of where you are : ) hope this helps a little and good luck, make sure you do your best to have fun with it. |

@cloudie when you are making the knot dont pull as tight, so when you are finishing the knot instead of pulling the string you are knotting with really hard just pull it a little bit less but enough that the knot still looks okay. I hope that makes sense

Some of the best beginner resources are found on Youtube!!! MashaKnots, Alex'sInnovations, and KinseyB on youtube all have super beginner friendly tutorials such as learning the 4 types of knots, reading patterns, and starting off your bracelets! I hope this helps! Welcome to BraceletBook- Happy Knotting!! 😊

@Paulina83 I would start with patterns like the polkadot chevron or the polkadot candystripe. Those are very similar compared to the regular candystripe or chevron so they should not be too hard to figure out. In general for the beginning I recommend patterns that closely follow the structure of a chevron or candystripe. You could also try a braid pattern.

if you can read patterns but are confused by the patterns on bb you can download the i-loom app. this app shows you which 'knot' you have to make per row! it really helped me to read patterns!
