you can still start it with a regular triangle or whatever u start with, it may not look as good, but it would be helpful to save the pattern in ur photos or print it out and draw the lines where u want to start

You can start anywhere in the pattern and do a triangle start anywhere. The single-coloured chevron is just recommended for aesthetic purposes. There isn't really anything you do different when there isn't one.

You can do a trianyle emd on any pattern as long as there is an even number of strings
