Do any of you guys know how to make tighter knots? Whenever I try to make a bracelet, I don’t think I’m knotting tight enough, and I can see holes through the bracelet. And my bracelets just don’t look good overall.

here’s the thing: i used to knot super tight, and strings would snap a lot and it was an absolute painnnnn if you want tighter knots, i’d say you put the two strings you wanna knot together really close and then knot really tight

I’m not exactly sure how to knot tighter, but knotting loosely isn’t a bad thing, it’s actually good. When you knot super tightly, your bracelets can curl up and be not as neat. As for the holes in your bracelet, holes are normal, but they could be a result of you not lining up your strings properly. for example, when your making a normal, make sure that the knots you’re making are right next to each other or else it will leave gaps. I could try giving you more specific advice if you posted a photo of one of your bracelets/set it as your profile pic

Ok so I changed my profile pic, and as you can see this bracelet I just started making. When I look at it the bracelet isn’t even straight, and there are a few holes in the middle. It may be that I’m using wrong embroider floss, but I have no idea what I’m doing wrong. Should I start with easier brackets?

No, I use different types. I use the brand dmc and loops and threads.

it also might be that your tension isn’t the same. if it’s different it can tend to get misshaped cuz different knots are pulling with different tensions.

thag also could be it. i dont jnow if the knots they create have different sizes, since i use only embroidery floss….. but i have done that and if you’re not paying attention to the knot sizes they make it can throw off the bracelet

Ok, so should I start with doing more easier bracelets? Maybe that might work

Or the problem might be the embroidery floss, I might try to restart the bracelet. Thank you all so much for helping! 🙂

you could. you could practice ur knot tension. probably with a chevron, because it might be that your backwards knots are different than ur forward knots, or vice versa.

When there are gaps between the knots like that, it usually means that you’re tying the first half of the knot too loose in relation to the second half. I recommend getting into the habit of tying the first half tighter
