My tips are try to tie your knots very tight i'm not exactly sure what you mean by your strings fraying up. Do you mean at the ends or where the knots are? My strings don't normally fray so it could be your string.

My strings used to fray just make sure that you try to minimize how the strings rub together when tying the knot…I think getting clean knots is mostly about practice…I would try doing both alphas and normals and that helped me. Also if you try making the first half of the knot tighter that should help! I hope this helps!

I second what lucass said, I've got three different kinds of embroidery thread, DMC, Anchor and a pack of white no-name thread and the no-names are horrible whereas the other two stay pretty much the way they are.Mine are all cotton. To those of you who use cotton and synthetic, which one do you think is better? |

Also if you’re string is old it might even break eventually

You might be using different strings, when knotting something, make sure all of the brands and thicknesses are the same. It’ll make everything look more even

In my experience, as someone else said, I generally find that it is the cheaper end string that has a tendency to get fuzzy and pill and wear during the knotting process. If that is the case, you can only limit it so much with the string you are using. Create smaller loops when you're knotting so you're not rubbing strings up the entire length of each other. If your string is actually splitting on you, try knotting a little looser. If fraying is what you think the issue is, try tying a tiny knot at the ends of your string as soon as you cut it.

I’m making my first (easy, supposedly) bracelet with embroidery floss and it looks like trash. 😂 😂 It is fraying like crazy from all of the corrections I’ve made.I’m starting over today am I think I am going to get a wooden skewer so I can ease the knot as close to the last one before I pull it taut - at least until I get enough practice. |

Tie your knots tight and don’t rush the knotting, you can play around with the knot made and make it look nice. Also don’t be afraid to undo a knot if it doesn’t look so nice.
