How long should the length of the string be for normal bracelets? For alphas i do around my arms length. Should i use the length of the string i use from my alphas for normal bracelets? Im not sure to be honest

I do from your fingers to your nose and that is usually plenty

I usually do my wingspan length but for an alpha, I usually do the length that I think the bracelet is gonna be for the base strings.

My alphas length is from my fingertips to my shoulder. Would that length be ok for normal pattern lengths? Or should i make it longer? I dont make normal bracelets often. Very rare to be honest.

@Bluejay21 it depends on the pattern, but that’s usually what I do. If your strings get too short though, you can replace them

@Bluejay21 I forgot to mention that you should do a wingspans length if you’re doing a loop, but if you’re not doing a loop, then do half a wingspans length. So, yes, you’ll probably need more than just from your fingertip to your shoulder

@oceanknot I understand. I am making a few alphas with loops that does require the length to be long. I have made the length from tip of my fingers of one hand to my other elbow on my other arm ( i hope that makes sense). would that be ok for normal pattern length of strings?

@Bluejay21 I would make it from your finger tip on one arm to your fingertip on the other arm. Keep in mind though that you may need more or less, it just depends on the pattern. I usually find that length to work well though

I normally cut my strings for normals, my wingspan or about 5 feet long (I always do a loop so when it's folded it's about 2.5 feet long)

Maybe around a meter long for each string, and if your folding the strings in half, then probably 2 meters 🙂

For alpha I use three quarters of my arms length. And for normals I use an arm and a half’s length or so. It’s always better to have too much than not enough because you can use the leftovers for alphas

@Bluejay21 I suggest doing about 12 inches for bracelets 4-8 strings, 10 or 12 strings about 18 inches - 24 inches. The more strands, the more string because you tie more knots. 😊

@Camo you do make a good point in having too much than not enough. i just have to test the waters out and see what works.
