Hey hey everyone! Hope you all are doing good! So, I’m going to make my first wallhanging. It is pattern #865. I was wondering if there are any tips for the type of thread I should use for wallhangings? I typically use DMC size 5 embroidery thread for all my bracelet things but I’m not sure if I should use it for wallhanging as I don’t want it to overly be too small! Then again, the pattern is pretty big so I am not sure exactly how big it will turn out. Anyways, I appreciate any help I can get ☺️☺️ thank you! |

it should turn out pretty big with size 5!!! 100x100 is pretty big no matter what size string youre using lol, good luck making it+please post pictures when youre finished, i would love to see it :]

First of all, I've never done a wallhanging, so please take my words as thoughts, not as advice.That said, how big would you like your wallhanging to be? 100 base strings and 100 rows sounds giantic, but in the end it's only as long or a little longer than a common bracelet. If you messure one of your bracelets and calculate how long 100 rows will be, you should get a good idea of how big your wallhanging will be in DMC. You could fold or cut a sheet of paper to the calculated size to see the actual size in front of you. I got myself a bulk of white no-name embroidery floss on Amazon for base strings and it was definitely a mistake as it gets a little fuzzy, especially towards the end of a bracelet, which is quite annoying to work with and doesn't look good. If I invested so much time and work in a project, I would make sure to use only high quality products to make sure to get a perfect result. |

@5torr I ended up using regular DMC embroidery floss! It turned out to be 5” W x 6.5” L.

I use DMC thread that is wrapped into those bigger twists as base strings. And then normal DMC thread for the actual knotting.
