Okay so mostly when I make normal bracelets they turn out fine, but when there are a lot of different shapes in them my edges turn out sooo wonky. I'm already using the same type of string and try to tie my knots all the same tightness so idk is there maybe a trick to get the edges straighter or is it all just practice?

I have some tips!number one, if you have a half diamond/triangle on your edge, pull the last string you knotted over straight. after you do that, use your thumbnail and push it in, forcing it straight

You can use the straight edge technique, Masha Knots has a tutorial on it here's the link

But personally what I do is try to tie my knots a little bit looser on patterns that i think will turn out wonky and that usally helps
