Can you be more specific on what you’re confused on?

If you’re confused with the videos, here’s a written tutorial that might be able to help you https://www.braceletbook.com/tutorials/106_how-to-make-color-switches-in-an-alpha/

@amarkowitz what are you confused about exactly?

I recommend watching MashaKnots' video on the flat alpha technique. It is really well made. But there are also other creators who have good videos on it.

@halokiwi - it seemed easy after watching the video, but I got confused when I started - strings got tangled up... perhaps I did too challenging of a pattern for my first try. I’m planning to watch clips of the video when I do the next one. Maybe i just need more practice 😃

@amarkowitz yes, I would recommend a pattern with not too many colours to start with.

I think to avoid strings getting tangled it is helpful to have them on bobbins. Personally I always put the strings I'm currently not using to the side in which direction I am knotting. I think it is important to develop a system where you put your strings you are currently not using to avoid tangles.

If you are not using a certain colour for a while you can also just cut that colour and reintroduce it once you need it again.

And don't forget: practice makes perfect! This technique needs some practicing like any other technique does too.

Personally I disliked this method when I first tried it but now that I had more practice and the results look nice I actually like this technique a lot 👍
