For normals. I was so proud that I finished a new pattern and then noticed the gaps.

You want to make sure your first knot is super tight before you make your second knot.

You just need to make sure the knots are tight, (but not to tight or the knot will flip and be a new color) also, do you know the 4 types of knots, if not that may be the issue

Forward; backwards; forward/backwards and then backward/forward, right?

Yup, just wanted to check, just make sure your knots are tight before you move on to the next knot, the once you get used to this, you will get in the habit and wont need to think about it, once you move onto another knot you cant go back.

Knitting the first knot fast and tight could help and also just trying to be consistent as well, don’t pull to tight or it’ll make the bracelet really stiff

If you hold your bracelet against the light you will always see small gaps so I wouldn't worry too much about it. If it is only noticeable when holding the bracelet against the light, it really shouldn't be an issue.
