The measurement will change bracelet to bracelet but generally I hold the loose end in one hand and the skein of thread in the other and pull my arms open as far as they go.

when I make bracelets I usually use around 30-40 inches because I don’t want to run out of string and it’s better to have more than run out and add more string.with the extra string you can make adjustable knots
