You should definitely check out masha knots's video, but a simple explanation is that it is a weaving motion with alternating forward and backward knots. You have one leading string, which you change out when you need to change colors. It makes more sense in Masha's video haha, I tried (:

Alpha patterns are knotted slightly different. In a normal pattern all of the strings knot over each other, alternating which knots you do with which colours creates your patterns. In an alpha bracelet you knot a single string across a series of base strings. The sole purpose of the base strings is to be knotted onto and that’s it. To change colours you push your working string out and pull the new colour in its place, only ever working with one knotting string at a time. The knotting string works left to right doing forwards knots and then right to left doing backwards knots to create your image.

I have a question about the straight alpha technique when you first start do you do a regular knot or not.

@Mayte257 it doesn’t really matter, I usually do a regular knot and it doesn’t show, but you can do a bf/fb knot if you want to
