If you want to calculate it exactly you can check out the formula, i think @Margaron has a video on it on her yt challenge. But what I would do is have a wingspan length for reference and then make the individual string longer or shorter depending on how huch it is used, so if ut has very few knots then make it shorter and if it has a lot make it a little longer or leave it as it is, maybe that way you will have less leftover. I hope this makes sense!
