I used to use jp coats but it’s running out and it’s hard to get so i’m thinking about ordering string off amazon or buying dmc. but if i wouldn’t be able to use them in the same bracelet as my jp coats itd useless. so my question is: can i use different brands of string in the same bracelet?

Yes, I think it’s fine to use diff brands so long as they’re the same thickness and no of strands etc.

I think it would be fine, just keep these few things in mind:- make sure you get what matches your string you currently have, so if it is craft cord, make sure you get craft cord, if it is embroidery floss, make sure to get embroidery floss - try to get a thread that has the same number of string, because if you have different thicknesses, your bracelets will turn wonky. - I would obviously check amazon to try to find the same brand that you have now, but if you can't, that is okay! - I would also check the prices of other brands, just so you aren't spending a bunch of money on DNC when there are other brands out there that are basically the same! I hope this helps, and good luck! |

For normal patterns, it shouldn't be problem! However, I usually don't combine craft cord (like the loops & threads kind) with embroidery floss. I either use different brands of craft cord or different brands of embroidery floss, so that's something to keep in mind. I believe the specific brands only really matter when making alphas. Hope this helps! 🙂

I use JP coats with my amazon bulk floss all the time. If you cant avoid using them in the same bracelet that totally fine but if you start noticing that one thicker string has the bracelet wonky try to keep each knot looking the same. they might need a little different tension to do that but it should be fine anyway.

Yeah, you can use different brands as long as the strings have the same thickness. If they do not (which I learnt the hard way) your bracelet will scrunch up in places of the pattern were you used that string, and your rows in alphas will be uneven. :/

I think its okay as long as its the same thickness, but if possible i would use the same brand. You can also cut a little string and test with it a bit before you start making a bracelet.
