So uhm. Sorry if this is too long. I’m making alpha bracelets and i don’t want to buy embroidery floss YET. Cuz i don’t know if this is gonna be a new hobby for me or if i’m just gonna throw it in my closet like all the other unfinished hobbies of mine. Also, embroidery floss is EXTREMELY expensive here. And i can’t order online because my stupid country is so old and want to stay old, so they made the rule that you can’t order things online from outside of the country without it being EXTREMELY expensive 🥲 And my country is expensive from before. They don’t sell packages with many colors. And if they do, it’s from special hobby stores and let me tell you, they are not cheap. ONE color of embroidery floss is gonna cost me 8$ 😐. You get the point. Anyways. I had to make an embroidery picture in school. And i couldn’t finnish it before the easter-break. I had to finnish it at home. And then i noticed, the embroidery thread i used, is the same people use to make alpha bracelets. Yk, it’s made out of 6 small threads that makes a thicker embroidery floss. I split the thread in 3 and noticed it’s the same as sewing thread. And i have a lot of that from my great grandma who sadly passed away. But i have a whole box of sewing thread in all sorts of colors. And since i never use them, can i make my own embroidery floss? i know it’s messy but hear me out. If i take 6 strands of sewing thread and twist them together, isn’t that basically an embroidery floss thread? even doe it’s gonna be messy and that i have to be latino when i twist them cuz it’s gonna take a lot of time. But i don’t see why it’s not gonna work? can someone give me a second opinion here? do y’all agree? because i don’t want to keep using yarn. I have very limited colors and they’re not so good make alpha’s with

I think if you are willing to try it can’t hurt seeing if it works

You can try thin yarn instead.

I’ve never tried it before, but I would suggest tying a knot at the beginning and end of the string after you finish twisting to keep the separate strands of thread from unraveling. I’ve also never tried this, but I’ve heard that some people just use plain sewing thread (without twisting it) to make bracelets, so if twisting them doesn’t work, you could just try using it as it is. The only thing with using sewing thread is that you’re bracelets are going to be a lot thinner and it could snap easily, so I would definitely suggest trying to twist them first.

Yarn is perfect if you don't mind a scrappy kind

Go for it 😄 I use yarn too and alphas are not good with yarn (when I tried it, it was not good). Maybe with your yarn you could pull apart the treads and use those to make smaller yarn? Just a suggestion 😊. Good luck! 😊
