I've been making Alphas for about a year now and I've noticed that 9 out of 10 times I make them the image looks sort of stretched. It looks like a longer version of the image on the pattern. Does anyone know how to fix this? Thanks!!

that’s natural with alpha making even though it’s annoying ): i would just say make sure you’re knotting tightly and use the same size/brand strings !!

Like what they said that's just normal and that happens with everyone's because the knots are rectangle instead of square which is why I try to avoid very circular patterns, hope that helps

Making sure you’re knots themselves sit straight instead of crooked (each individual should be like | instead of like / or \) will help with this too! You can fix it by maneuvering knots immediately After you tie them by pulling base strings and the knotting strings.

What can be helpful is doubling up your base string or picking thicker base string

You can also experiment with your knot tightness

@demonspong is there a specific way i should adjust the knots? i think this may be my main problem because my knots are always like / and \ (i always thought that was a natural thing)

It is completely normal that the knots are leaning in the direction you are knotting in. I think pulling the leading string slightly upwards instead of straight to the side when knotting might help.

@Gxbby101 I’m with @halokiwi if they lean a little it’s fine, but I try to make my alpha knots look like knots I make on normal patterns. Pulling up instead of to the side helps for sure!
