As I was making one of my first alpha patterns I noticed that the sides were getting pulled closer together. Was I pulling knots too tight and that's why it created like a little "hill" in the pattern?

Usually that happens when your knots are too tight and when one of the strings goes from one side to another in the back, what I mean is like if there is a black knot on one side and a black knot on the other side, the black string will go from one side to the other in the back of the bracelet and that pulls the sides toghether. To avoid it you can cut the strings on the back that are pulling on the sides and make your knots less tight, that will also help to keep them more even.
