How do I do the straight edge technique? I know that you add an extra string and put backward forward and forward-backward knots on them. But when your start the next row do you do another backward forward knot or forward-backward knot, because I don't and it makes the row crooked. 🤔

are you talking about the straight edge technique in normal patterns or alpha patterns? also masha knots has youtube tutorials for the straight edge techniques where she goes over questions like this one.

Correct, when you start the next row you make another BF or FB knot.

if row is starting with Forward knots you start with BF then moving down to backwards beginning with FB. you alway make the first and last knots of your rows the opposite of the majority the row is.
