Why do my alphas get stretched out? Like if i make a circle for example it ends up like an oval lol. An example is the kiwi keychain i made you can find it somewhere in my photos. Is there a way to fix this, any tips??? Any help would be appreciated

That might just be that pattern, cause all of the photos under it look like ovals too

If you are using the flat alpha technique and you do the color switch the row does tend to go down but I think a ruler could help or tying your knots not too loose but not too tight. Honestly I don’t know what to do in this situation because i never made one like that before but hope this helps. 🙂

@julianna_e ya i use the flat alpha and straight edge technique. Idk how to explain but i have noticed that my knots are longer than they are wide. They arent square, so maybe thats why it gets stretched out, but idk how to fix it and its kinda frustrating

If you're pulling your knots too tight then the bracelet can be a little more stretched out. If you loosen them a bit (a problem I'm still struggling with), trust me, it'll look really good. I did it once and that alpha was probably my favorite. I don't think there's a way to make the knots into a perfect circle but loosening them would help make them into a less stretched out oval.

My alphas do that too! I don’t think I’m making my knots tight enough tho....

same with me! I knot really tight and use the flat edge technique, but all the circular patterns I make turn out like ovals... someone told me once what has helped them so here that technique: (I haven't personally tired it yet but I'm sure it would help a bit)if you double your base strings, so the your leading string knots around 2 base strings every time, it should help. when it elongates, it's usually not anything to do with you, it's just how the knot structure. most knots are taller than they are wide, which is why it looks like an oval. when you double your base strings it should help make the knots wider and more square! hopefully this helps! |
