I’ve tried to alphas and all of them look horrible. The colors are in the right order and stuff but they all look scrunched up and ugly. 😭
I’ve watched a bunch of videos and stuff but I still manage to mess them up

Just practice practice practice
That’s all you can do, anything worth doing takes practice

try using the same type of string, or the same thickness. i use a ruler to straighten each row, and i use the flat alpha technique. also yes practice helps a ton as well

@Yoonhee thank u so much for the advice! I'm definitely trying my best not to give up. My first alpha I retried like 3 times then I just gave up but I'm gonna try to finish all the alphas I start even if they start looking awful. 🙈 ❤️ 👍

Do you mind changing your profile pic to one of your alphas (just until I see them)? Then I could give you more specific help. Please tag me if you do.

For now though-

Try using the flat alpha technique (Masha Knots and Alex's Innovations both have videos about them on Youtube)
Make sure all strings are the same width
Might help if you started it on something flat like a dowel or keychain
It takes time, so be patient 😊

Tag me if you have any questions!

You may also be pinching your work. When you do colour changes and re-introduce a colour that’s already been used you can’t pull too tight because the string will naturally try to pull your knot as close to the last knot (knots or rows away) that you made with it. This can cause the fabric of your bracelet to pinch or bunch and be bumpy no matter what technique you use.

Try first starting off with something with not too many base strings. Maybe something like up to 14 base strings. also do something with not too many colors. Like 2 or 3 colors. Just keep practicing and you will get better. there are a lot of videos on youtube on how to make alphas. Don't go strait with something too difficult or else you are just going to not get the basics down.

For me I tried to practice with using scraps and also follow a tutorial that I would understand and then practice until I got it. (it will take some time though.)

Have you tried the straight alph technique. Masha knots has a video on it on YouTube if you are interested🙂 also make sure you are making all your knots with the same amount of tension (which come with time and practice) hope this helped
