Like the title suggests, I was wondering when creating a new pattern can I go ahead and create variations to the same pattern at the same time or do I have to wait for the pattern to be submitted, reviewed, then posted before I can add my own variations? I’m asking basically because I have two of the same pattern/image, one is with a dark black outline and the other is not. Please and thanks in advance!

I think you'll have to wait for it to be reviewed. Because you can only create variations of existing patterns.

Yeah I had to wait for mine to be accepted before I could add variations to them

I think you can submit a variation while your original pattern is being reviewed. The knotting structure and color order has to be the exact same though for the generator to recognize it as a variation for a pattern that’s currently being reviewed. I’m not 100% sue, but I remember that one time I had two of the same pattern and the generator said something like this pattern is currently in review, but can be submitted as a variation

Yes, @oceanknot is right.

If you submit a pattern with the same knotting structure (colour order doesn't matter) while another one is in review the pattern you submitted will be added as a variation.
