i keep hearing that you must be SUPER active in the chat to become a bracelet book king. is this true? and how often? like 25 messages a week? what really goes into a bracelet king?

As myself, i am not sure because i haven’t gotten there yet. That could probably be a rule so if you are looking forward to ranking up then i would suggest to keep chatting!🙂

No, you don't have to be active in the chat. Basically any activity counts towards ranking up but you don't have to do all of them. You can never write in the chat and still rank up.

I wrote in the chat once before I had got bracelet king, like @halokiwi said, you just have to be active in general. If the chat is your type of thing then go for it. If you’d rather just make patterns and post pictures that’s ok too.

I’ve never written a message in the chat and I still ranked up, so if you don’t really want to do that, you could still rank up by helping people in the forums, posting photos, participating in challenges, etc

It's not required, but it could help you. Just being active on the site will help you rank up, and chatting is part of that. I don't type in the chat very much
