Multi-Coloured Alpha Problem

So I’m having this issue with multi-coloured alphas where if the alpha has a shape that’s wide and there’s only maybe one background row on each side, my bracelet gets all bunched up on either side and the shape sticks out. Has anyone else had this problem? How do I fix it? Also sometimes the shape gets all stretched out.

I find that the tension on the base strings has a lot to do with how the outside edge turns out, if some strings are too loose the row isn't straight. You could try securing both ends and working in the middle, but if you mean the colour strings being in the back are making the pattern pop forward try loosening how much your pulling on the colour string when you bring a colour back in.
