Hi everyone so I am working on an alpha pattern and I am really mad. The pattern calls for 12 total base strings plus one leading string counting for a total of 13. I made a shaped start and started working on the pattern but after that, I realized I only have 11 base strings instead of 12. That means I have to decrease one knot. But I don't know what I am doing wrong when I cut them. I don't understand if I cut a total of 12 how will I make the loop with the string since there will be an extra one? Thank you so much in advance!

Did you start off with 12?

Check the back of your bracelet it may have been skipped by other knots making it disappear

I dont know how to solve ur current problem, but i know what you can do in the future. What you can do is just make the loop with the 12 base strings. In order to keep the lead string from running away, tape it onto the clipboard or whatever surface you are using. Then what you do is make a triangle start from the loop. After the triangle start, make the alpha and end as desired. THis is how i make mine. You can look at my photos for reference and feel free to ask questions!

@GenMalucci To be honest I think I started with 11, not including the leading string so 12 but the problem I am having is how to start with 13. I checked but I didn't miss any knots. Thank you so much for your help though❤️

@CakeCup thank you so much for your help but I was actually working on Alex’s Innovations evil eye bracelet which does not start with the triangle end. I was thinking maybe I should do 14 strings and just do one extra knot at the end?
