So this has probably been asked already but on my wall hangings I normally tie a normal knot for the hanging bit on the top, but they have all got undone quite easily so I was wondering what you guys do? On some pictures I’ve seen the larks head knot being used but I can’t figure out how the other end gets tied? Thank you for your help😀

I personally do the larks-head knot to tie the base strings onto the dowel, and I end it as I do when ending keychains. You could if you wanted, just finish the pattern and then just cut the remaining base strings shorter so they just hang, I have seen people do that and it looks pretty good. If you don't know how to end keychains, then all you really do is split the base strings into two groups (like you do when doing triangle ends for Alpha's) and then on the left group, you take the 2nd most outer string and tie a forward knot onto the last base string and then you repeat that with the rest of the strings in that group but knotting over all the previous strings you knotted onto. You then do the exact same on the right group but with backward knots. Here's a tutorial on that if my explanation was too confusing: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Frp6i6n_q0I |

@Someone_ thank you for the advice! 🙂I was also wondering how the string which hangs at the top (the string that you use to hang it on the wall) is tied on too? Do you know how? |

You're welcome! 😊I do know how but to explain it might be confusing (I'm bad at words sometimes 😂), so I'll link a video that shows you how to do it. The way in the video is how I do it, because personally I think it looks better and cleaner. But you could just use one string, and tie a knot on both ends of the dowel to form that loop for it to hang. Here's the video: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=iCHUydDueYY (You can skip to about 6 minutes in) |

If you mean the string to hold the whole thing up I make sure I tie a really tight normal know then I trim the string and then I use Nail Polish to secure it and I do this all while it’s hanging up

@1aesthetic ohhhh yes that’s what I mean thank you so much that will really help on my next wall hanging, I completely forgot that clear nail polish can help secure strings. Thank you😄
