Hi! I have a question about the wire you use to make alpha knots. I've been using cheap thread from alie Express for a long time (and to be honest, it's still pretty good quality). But of course there is always room for improvement, the thread of alie express is quite thick, so my buttons are not always nice. I've used DMC a few times but it keeps breaking and I don't know what to do about it, and it's pretty annoying. Do you have specific brands that you like to use? (I’m from Belgium btw, so I guess there are no thread-shops in Belgium) Thanks! |

I bought a big pack of Iris/Artiste from Hobby Lobby when I started and I still use the threads. I mostly use DMC now because I can buy specific colors. I would suggest not pulling on your string so tightly though 🙂

I use Loops and Threads, which is cheap and good quality, but I just recently started using DMC as well

As well as DMC, I mainly use Anchor and another brand called Le Paon. Both are like DMC in that they have a wide range/variety of colours and are of very good quality🙂.

DMC rocks! Go to Amazon and you’ll get a pack of 250 rolls for 19.00$!

Pllieay and Mira Handcraft threads are really good and you can buy them in bulk from Amazon. In both you get a nice range of colours and the quality is good.

I use DMC as well. But mine doesn’t break so maybe your pulling yours to much or you accidentally bought a knock-off brand?! But I totally suggest giving DMC another try! 😊

I use loops and threads as base string and dmc as a leading thread. I just have to be careful with how tight I tie knots to not weaken the thread

I normally have a huge collection of threads from plenty of stores and brands but I nearly ran out and the craft stores with the threads I want are closed and do not have an online selection for what I want. This meant the best thread I am able to get t the moment is at walmart, the brand is called horizon and although the threads can snap the $10 price is really good for the 105 skeins. I am hoping to get better threads next month though

It doesn’t really matter what kind of string you use but I recommend if you are making a bracelet or a alpha try to use the same size string
