Hi! I’m making an alpha bracelet. Pattern #45919, and it contracted when I got to the mountains. I’m using the same thickness and brand of string. Any idea why?

are you using the straight edge technique? if you are then idk why it's doing that.

hmm that's weird if you're using straight edge technique. maybe your knots are too tight and its pulling the bracelet inward.

Maybe you are pulling the loose leading strings in the back too tight.I also recommend using the flat alpha technique if you aren't already using it. |

Hi, I have definitely faced this problem before. I would really loosen up my knots throughout the entire pattern, that way the tension is not pulling the edges inward. I have noticed this with a lot of bracelet makers; that some make their alphas loose on the first couple of starting rows, (that have no color switching quite yet), and then start to get a lot more tension while the actual pattern starts. I have done this before, but really loosening up the knots helps a lot. Anyways, I really hope this helps. Happy knotting!! 😄

Hi! I would recommend cutting some of the strings on the back as they may be pulling the bracelet together 🙂
