Ok, I think I understand but I’m not quite sure. So, you make it a pattern but u just change the colors and a mod will make it a variation??? Is that right or no?

For variations you go under any pattern on the website and click add a variation. Then you change the colours and submit the variation. However if you do make a normal pattern that already exists it will become automatically a variation. I do not make variations too much so that's all I can say.

The generator automatically recognises if a pattern you are submitting is a variation or not.

You can submit variations in two different ways
-use the "add variation" button
-generate a pattern in the generator that happens to already exist with the exact same knotting structure

We moderators can only click accept and decline (we can also click delete but we only need to do that if a pattern gets submitted several times without changes). We do the same things no matter if it is an original pattern or a variation.
