Hi, so I’m currently making a wallhanging for my dad and was wondering how to attach the string that actually hangs it? Like that one string that goes on the outside of the pattern that u use to hang up ur wallhanging

With that one you can get creative. People do it in lots of different ways.

You could for example take a string, tie the ends together so that it's a loop and do two lark's head knots with it to attach it to the dowel. I hope that makes sense.

You could also make one of the folded in half base strings longer, tie one side to the dowel at the left side of the other strings with a regular knot so it's the same length as the other base strings, then tie the other end to the right side.

These were awful explanations. There's really not much you could do wrong. You can just try out what works for you, your wallhanging won't suddenly explode if you do it in an odd way 😉

I believe this could be helpful. Here is a yt videos where you are shown how to make that hanging string and this is how I learned. Here is the video, you can go to around 5 min 30 sec and its there!!
