Straight edges on an alpha

So, Im not new to bracelet making, but Im new to alphas. Im making one right now and thought I was doing it right but apparently I don't know how to change colors or make straight edges, Im a tad confused but any help is appreciated have a good day.

Ok so with the changing colors there’s 2 ways to do it. Flat alpha technique or the regular method. Basically, just do a normal color change on the edge, without flat alpha technique.
