Hey guys!I have done a few normal patterns and want to start with some alpha patterns. They are a little overwhelming to look at so I was wondering if anyone has any suggestions for some simple ones to get started. Any tips and tricks for alphas would also be appreciated! Thanks in advance 🙂 |

If you haven’t seen Masha Knots alpha tips video, then I would highly suggest checking that out. You should learn how to make alphas using the flat alpha and straight edges technique in the beginning, so that it’s easier for you later. Make sure that all of your knotting thread is the same thickness and that your base strings are the same thickness. I prefer to use craft cord and Aunt Lydia’s crotchet thread fashion 3 for base strings. Here’s the link to the video for the alpha tips. https://youtu.be/_YVFAX9sacw I don’t have any pattern suggestions because I don’t really think there is such thing as a beginner alpha since you’re using the same techniques. However, don’t make an alpha with too many strings. My first alpha was #36730, but the first time I followed an alpha pattern was #28885 . Many people may disagree with that pattern as a beginner alpha because it has a lot of color switches, but I would say it trained me to become better at alpha patterns. People tend to stay so close to little alpha patterns because they’re worried about transitioning to harder alphas, but just make a pattern you’re interested in, |

I think it would be a good idea to try to just make a name bracelet, there are tons of tutorials on this on youtube, first so you can get the feel for an alpha. Try looking for alphas with 6-12 strings for your first ones and only 2-4 colors.

I’d starry with simple name bracelets just since it’s only 2 colors. Find patterns with very little color switches
